A 1.5-acre plantation watered by data, not by guess

The challenge

A farmer in Jharkhand ran a 1.5-acre plot with a mix of horticulture and other plantation crops. Watering was done by hand and by habit, with no view of soil moisture or weather. Different crops needed different schedules, none of which were tracked, so water and labour were wasted and irrigation was inconsistent across the plot.

What we built

We built a full IoT irrigation system and integrated it across the plot.

  • Soil-moisture and weather sensors placed across the plot
  • Zone-wise automated valves driven by live sensor data
  • Crop-specific irrigation schedules per zone
  • Mobile monitoring, alerts and dashboards so the farmer can watch and act from a phone

The results

The plot is now watered on the basis of soil moisture and weather rather than habit, with each crop zone on its own schedule. Based on comparable deployments, water use fell by an estimated 40 percent, with less manual effort.

The water-saving figure is an estimate based on similar smart-irrigation deployments, not a metered result from this site.
